Seat Pleasant Police Officers apprehended 43-year-old Keith Maybin Jr., charged with fatally shooting 43-year-old Courtney Blacksher on September 28, 2023.
On September 28, 2023, around 7:10 p.m., officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to the 8600 block of Central Avenue Seat Pleasant, Maryland 20743, for a four-car accident. At the same time, officers received a second call for service at the exact location where two unrelated victims were being threatened with a gun. Those victims were not injured. Officers quickly arrived on the scene, and after a brief struggle, Mr. Maybin was placed in handcuffs while officers recovered a handgun tucked in his waistband. Mr. Maybin was identified by officers on the scene with the help of Prince Georges County Police, who released a BOLO earlier that day. Due to the officers' swift actions, Mr. Maybin was apprehended before potentially causing harm to the innocent bystanders.
Earlier that day, Prince Georges County officers responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Harry S. Truman Drive in the unincorporated section of Upper Marlboro. The victim was located suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to continue their investigation.
