Seat Pleasant Police Department K-9 “Theo” Assists Officers with Multiple Robbery Apprehension

On October 18, 2023, at 12:37 p.m., officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to Martin Luther King Jr Hwy and Addison Road to assist Prince George’s County Police (PGPD) with an armed citizen robbery. Once on scene, officers were advised that the suspects who committed the robbery earlier that day were last seen inside Capitol Liquors located at 5950 Martin Luther King Jr Highway, Seat Pleasant, Maryland 20743. Officers began to canvass, at which point PFC Harmon observed two individuals matching the description from the robbery. Once other officers arrived to assist PFC Harmon, the two suspects fled on foot towards Greig Court. After multiple verbal commands to stop running, they were ignored. PFC Harmon deployed K-9 “Theo,” which ultimately caused both males to surrender immediately and were taken into custody without further incident. Items of evidentiary value were recovered on the scene from the suspects.

 On October 31, 2023, around 12:05 p.m., officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to 5612 J Street, Fairmount Heights, Maryland 20743, to assist Prince George’s County Police (PGPD) and Fairmount Heights Police (FHPD) for a citizen armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who stated he was robbed at gunpoint while standing outside. PFC Harmon and K-9 Theo arrived and conducted track from the initial scene. During the track, the victim’s cell phone was located in the backyard of a nearby house. K-9 Theo continued to track to another home, where officers ultimately located the suspect. PGPD detectives were able to arrest the suspect and recover items of evidentiary value.

Seat Pleasant Police Department K-9 Amber Led Officers to a Missing Person with Dementia

 On October 22, 2023, approximately 9:00 a.m., K-9 Amber and her handler Sergeant Matthews with the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to the 14000 block of Barkham Ct. Laurel, Maryland 20707 to assist Prince George’s County Police (PGPD) in search for a missing 72-year-old male with dementia. When K-9 Amber arrived on scene, she collected the missing person’s scent from two shirts and a pillow. K-9 Amber quickly acquired the scent and started trailing alongside the house in a grassy area surrounded by woods. Amber trailed to the foot path which the missing person was last seen. K-9 Amber led officers to the middle of a wooded area where the missing person was located huddled down inside of a small drainage ditch.

Officers were able to assist the elderly male out of the drain, and he was returned home safely without injuries.
